Sugar Beasts

Playable Species
If you see a sugar beast charging at you, don't panic! These hulking creatures have a naturally friendly disposition to an almost terrifying degree.

Anatomy

Sugar Beasts are bulky, imposing, and sturdy by default. These heavy and strongly-muscled creatures tend to scare people with their looks, but the truth is that they're surprisingly gentle.

SBs are usually covered in plush, soft fur, which hides their strong, muscled frames. Though most of them are sweet and friendly, most people know not to pick a fight with one. Their strong legs can deal a surprising amount of damage.

Horns

SB horns are typically spiraled and tend to be extremely colorful-- they sport a variety of bizarre patterns and shapes. The patterning of the horns will usually match other parts of the SB-- their bones, skin, tongue, etc.

Ears

SB ears are usually large-to-medium-sized and show a great deal of emotion. It's highly common to see an SB waving or wiggling their ears, whether it be from happiness, anger, or anything between.

The insides of the ears typically follow the odd patterning of their horns-- you don't have to draw an inside to their ears, but if you do, you can draw it matching the horn or draw it as a stripe pattern.

Tails

Sugar beast tails almost always seem to have a bizarre shape to their structure, whether they be coiled, wavy, or bent. Though they can extend them out to their full length for short periods of time, it's uncomfortable for them to do for very long, and they will revert to their usual shape with time.

Tail Style

Tails are commonly coiled or wavy.

You can pick any tail style you like that applies to your tail's rarity, this applies to all rarities. For example, a puff tuft tail can have any rare or below style, as it's rare. (Unless if the notes about the tail specify it takes a specific style, such as piggy tails always being coiled) You can also apply a trait essence to a tail to change its rarity, such as a common tail having a straight style.

This applies for event traits as well, so something like a devil tail can have any event or below rarity style for free.

Eyes

SBs typically have very abnormal pupils, whether they be swirled, ringed, or shaped.

HORN Style

You can pick any horn style you like that applies to your horn's rarity, this applies to all rarities. For example, a uni horn can have any mythical or below style, as it's mythical.  You can also apply a trait essence to a horn to change its style, such as a common horn having a smoky style.

This applies for event traits as well.

Society

SBs are known for having a love of friends, family, and festitivites. Most SBs can appreciate a good party, and it's even better with people they love! SBs can usually be found huddled in large groups for comfort, a lot of them don't feel secure by themselves despite their large size. They often form large snuggle piles and snooze the days away!

Behavior

SBs are incredibly friendly and can get along with most of everyone they meet. Their gentle nature coupled with a willingness to meet new people is an excellent combo for a fluffy friend! Though, like all species, exceptions exist to the norm.

Symbiosis

SBs tend to have an overabundance of magical energy in their bodies, which tends to flake off of them and coat their body to a detrimental degree. Without the help of their special companions, they'd bring harm not to themselves, but everyone around them. This is why they are commonly found with the aid of a peculiar creature-- a sugar fairy.

Together, they form a symbiosis, with the SB protecting the fragile creatures from harm, and the SFs collecting the sugar dust that flakes off of their fur. SFs will use the collected sugar dust to fuel their own magic, and even feed off of it. Sbs with crystal afflictions regularly enlist the help of SFs to help manage their condition, just as SBs enjoy crunching on gems, they'll crunch on the SBs gems as well. Some SFs choose to follow an SB as a lifelong ally, but others of them piggyback off of one just long enough to gain their own plentiful magic-- enough to last them the rest of their lives.

An SF that accompanies an SB for multiple years can quickly gain as much energy as they need and will quickly gain their potent self-defenses similar to SBs-- a potent venom and sugar dust of their own. Even when independent, SFs often will still rely on wandering SBs, as they can collect scattered sugar dust and combine/repurpose it into crystalline homes.

Diet

It's speculated that at one point, SBs used to be carnivorous, or at least omnivorous, due to the remnants of their sharp fangs and the occasional tooth mutation that crops up every now and again. Now, they thrive on a particular diet-- that of the magically-infused crystals that cover the planet's surface. Thanks to these crystals, these creatures have gained a unique structure and more bizarre features and mutations than anything else that lives on the planet. (Anything native to it, at least, anyway)

Innate Magic

SBs have mastered their magic in a very peculiar way. While other species tend to channel magic or spells, SBs carry a special essence within their bodies that serves a variety of purposes. The expression of this substance can vary, and so can the effects. The SB can alter all of these at will. SBs are considered the most magical species by sheer volume, they've adapted in many ways to tolerate and contain their excess magic, and it expresses in many ways, such as in their colorful coats and spiraled horns, eyes, and tails. What would outright kill other species merely contributes to their unique looks and powers. The most magically charged of SBs can further astound and amaze their kin with how they adapt to their magic, and in turn, it adapts to them.

Sugar Dust
Ironically, for such a hyperactive and friendly species, the presence of SBs is very soothing, so much so to the point that the powdery dust that dusts their fur can knock someone out! Watch out if one shakes their fur around you, you might get a little bit sleepy!

SBs are said to have such large manes and dense fur to hold so much dust, ones without one will lack a lot of or produce less dust.

Toxic Glob
SBs can be just as sour as they’re sweet. When agitated, they’re known to begin drooling heavily, in preparation for a very painful attack: like a llama, they’ll pelt an offending party with a concentrated glob of toxic magic compounds. This has been known to temporarily blind people, and the substance is incredibly sticky and has been described as “almost impossible to wash off.” Some SBs have been rumored to produce a liquid comparable to acid, but this is rare.

Basic - everyone can use these

  • Sugar Dust: a light crystalline powder that can induce sleepiness, and in high doses or long exposure, can induce full sleep
  • Toxic Glob: Concentrated magic power that induces blindness and pain

Hyper- SBs with strong magic

  • Sugar Dust: Powder is empowered, either through potency, or through amount
  • Toxic Glob: Glob becomes even harder to wash off, clings heavily to any surface, light acidic effect
  • Hyper Elevation: Almost a heightened form of sensing, can experience the world more quickly than others

Ultra- SBs with improbable magic

  • Sugar Dust: Powder is empowered, but the SB gains more control over when and how it is used, and the dosage
  • Toxic Glob: Glob becomes more destructive, strong acidic effect
  • Hyper Elevation: Heightened speed and perception, more alert, more perceptive, very quick reaction time

MYO GUIDELINES

Unique traits that must be listed:

  • tail style
    • You can pick any tail style you like that applies to your tail's rarity, this applies to all rarities. For example, a puff tuft tail can have any rare or below style, because it's rare. (Unless if the notes about the tail specify it takes a specific style, such as piggy tails always being coiled)
    • You can also apply a trait essence to a tail to change its rarity, such as a common tail having a straight style.
    • This rule applies for event traits or other special rarity traits, which can have a style of anything common through unusual.
  • Horn style
  • Foot style
    • Always beast paws by default, can be upgraded like any other trait

Sugar beasts are commonly described as colorful or pastel, but they can be any color, with no restriction. There are no marking restrictions.

You must follow the trait guidelines, as with every species.

Traits that are described as being part of a subspecies are able to be used for any SB regardless of subspecies, this will be part of an upcoming feature.
