Innate Magic
What is innate magic?
Innate magic is the name for your character's default magical abilities. These are separate from Proficiencies and level up and function independently of them. You can level up both.
Your character's innate magic for their species can be seen on their species page, under Innate Magic.
What are magic levels?
Magic levels are a system that gauges the power of your character's innate magic. By leveling up innate magic levels, your character will grow in power and gain access to new perks and traits.
How can I improve my magic level?
There are currently two ways to level up your character's innate magic level:
- Innate Magic questline
- Magic Potion (Maxwell's Makeover Market)
Innate Magic Quest
Innate Magic quests function similarly to Proficiency Quests, but their levels are independent of one another. The magic rewards and prompts in these quests are tied to your character's species.- You do not have to complete all 3 steps in the questline, you can stop whenever you reach a level you like, but to gain special benefits you need to complete all of them.
- You don't have to follow the questline exactly, you can deviate or come up with your own ideas as long as they follow the theme of improving your magic!
- When a tier is completed, your character will gain an award on their profile to signal their progress!
1. BASIC: You're in the baseline for your species, but you could be so much more. Show your character practicing their magic, fussing over what drives them to become more than just average, or something else.

Writing requirements: 500+ words
Rewards: +14 Sparkles, quest step 2 unlocked
2. INTERMEDIATE: You're ready to move onto the next step. Show your character experimenting with more advanced magic to them.

Writing requirements: 500+ words
Rewards: +14 Sparkles, advance to Intermediate tier in your Innate Magic

Writing requirements: 500+ words
Rewards: +14 Sparkles, advance to Intermediate tier in your Innate Magic
Award: Tier 2: Superior Proficiency
3. ADVANCED: One thing leads to another, and you're suddenly better than the rest. Something inside you is nagging, though, it isn't enough for you. Show your character performing advanced magic.

Writing requirements: 500+ words
Rewards: +14 Sparkles, advance to Tier 3 in your Innate Magic, innate magic traits unlocked!
3. ADVANCED: One thing leads to another, and you're suddenly better than the rest. Something inside you is nagging, though, it isn't enough for you. Show your character performing advanced magic.
